Something not working, or a question about your data? This page covers the common ones. If it isn’t here, email us — a real person reads it.
Getting help
Email arnab.goswami@heystead.com. We’re a small team, so expect a reply within a couple of working days. It helps if you mention your phone model and what you were doing when it went wrong.
There’s no account — so what identifies me?
Stead has no signup, no password, and no email wall. When you first open the app it creates an anonymous device id, and everything you log is attached to that id. Nothing is tied to your name.
The trade-off: if you lose the phone or delete the app, that id goes with it, and there’s currently no way to move your history to a new phone. Export your data first if you’re switching.
Logging and estimates
Tap + to log a meal, a workout, your weight, water, or how you feel — type it, say it, or snap a photo. Calorie and protein numbers are estimates, worked out item by item so you can see where they came from. Every log is editable: tap it in Activity to fix a quantity, change an item, or delete it.
Plans and workouts
- Making a plan: go to Plans → Make a plan and pick a meal plan or a training week. You can have one of each running at a time; end the current one to start a new one.
- Changing it: swap any meal or session, or tell Stead what to change — before you confirm the plan or any time after.
- On the day: a session can be made shorter or lighter, a movement swapped, or worked around something that’s hurting.
- Missed something? Nothing to make up for. The plan carries on from where you are.
- Please be sensible: if something hurts or feels wrong during a workout, stop. If you have an injury or a health condition, check with a doctor first.
Ordering in with Swiggy
- Connecting: Profile → Swiggy → Connect. You sign in on Swiggy’s own page; Stead never sees your password.
- Stead fills your cart — you place the order. When you add a pick, it goes into your real Swiggy cart. Open Swiggy to check out and pay. Stead never places an order or pays.
- “Your cart already has something”: Swiggy carts hold one restaurant at a time, so adding a dish from somewhere else can replace what’s there. Stead asks you first.
- Prices, offers and delivery times come from Swiggy when we check and can change. What Swiggy shows at checkout is final.
- Asked to reconnect? Swiggy’s sign-in lasts a few days, so you’ll occasionally need to sign in again. Nothing you’ve set up is lost.
- Problems with an order — late, wrong, missing, or a refund — are handled by Swiggy. Contact Swiggy support from the Swiggy app.
- Disconnecting: Profile → Swiggy → Disconnect. This deletes the order history Stead stored and everything it learned from it. Meals you already confirmed stay in your log. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Notifications
Notifications are optional. Turn them all off, choose which ones you get and when, or set quiet hours in Profile → Settings → Notifications. Turning them off is one tap and changes nothing else about the app.
Exporting your data
Open Profile → Settings → Export my data. You’ll get a zip containing a single JSON file with what’s held for your device — your profile, every log, your plans, memory, and, if you connected Swiggy, what Stead learned from your orders. It opens in the share sheet so you can save it wherever you like.
Deleting your data
Open Profile → Settings → Delete all my data and confirm. This wipes the server record for your device — meal photos and Swiggy data included — disconnects Swiggy, and resets the app. It is immediate and cannot be undone, so export first if you want a copy.
You can also email us to request deletion and we’ll handle it.
What Stead won’t do
Stead does not give medical advice. It won’t interpret lab results, tell you what a number means, or suggest anything about medication or dosage — by design, not by oversight. If you log something that sounds serious, it will point you to a doctor instead of offering an opinion.
Food suggestions are fair game: meals, snacks, swaps and ingredients that fit what you’ve told it you eat. That’s a suggestion, not treatment for a condition. If you have an allergy, always check ingredients — and, when ordering, check with the restaurant.
Reporting a bug
Email us with what happened and what you expected. If the app is showing wrong data, exporting first and attaching the zip makes it much faster for us to find the cause.
